Bleeding the brake system [Toyota Camry Vista-V40]

Note: After any work involving air entering the brake system, bleed it.


Caution: Do not allow brake fluid to come into contact with painted surfaces. If brake fluid does come into contact with a painted surface, wash it off immediately.


1. Fill the reservoir with brake fluid.
  • Brake fluid - DOT 3

2. Bleeding the master brake cylinder.

Note: If the master cylinder was removed, or if the reservoir was left empty, bleed the master cylinder.


a) Disconnect the brake pipes from the master cylinder.

b) Gently press the brake pedal and hold it.

c) Plug the outlet holes of the brake cylinder with your fingers and release the brake pedal.

d) Repeat the operations of points "b" and "c" three or four times.

3. Bleeding the brake system.

a) Connect the vinyl tube to the bleed nipple of the wheel brake cylinder.

b) Press the brake pedal several times, then, while holding the pedal down, loosen the bleed screw.

c) When the brake fluid stops coming out, tighten the bleeder screw, then release the brake pedal.

d) Repeat steps "b" and "c" until no more air bubbles appear in the outgoing brake fluid.

d) Repeat the bleeding procedure for each wheel.

4. Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir and top up if necessary.
