Checking and adjusting the clutch pedal travel [Toyota Camry Vista-V40]

1. Check the height of the clutch pedal from the floor.
  • Pedal height from floor - 197.4 - 207.4 mm

2. Adjust the clutch pedal height if necessary.

Loosen the lock nut and turn the adjusting bolt to achieve the desired clutch pedal height. Tighten the lock nut.
  • Tightening torque - 26 Nm

3. Check the pedal free play by pressing the pedal until resistance appears.
  • Pedal free travel - 5-15 mm

1 - nut for adjusting the free travel of the rod and clutch pedal,
2 - pedal height adjustment bolt,
3 - free travel of the rod,
4 - clutch pedal height.

1 - clutch release drive master cylinder,
2 - cotter pin,
3 - return spring,
4 - fork axle,
5 - clutch pedal assembly,
6 - retainer,
7 - air duct,
8 - lower trim panel on the driver's side,
9 - additional storage compartment,
10 - hood lock handle,
11 - front door threshold trim,
12 - side trim of the interior,
13 - clutch pedal bracket,
14 - bolt - axis,
15 - adjusting bolt,
16, 23 - side bushing,
17 - stroke limiter No.1,
18, 25 - bushing,
19 - clutch pedal,
20 - overlay,
21 - stroke limiter No.2,
22 - inner sleeve,
24 - pin,
26 - upper seat of the return spring,
27 - lock washer,
28 - lower seat of the return spring with a guide,
29 - idle speed control handle during warming up


Note: Apply grease to the parts indicated by the arrows in the figure.


4. Lightly press the pedal until the resistance increases and measure the free travel of the rod.
  • Free stroke of the rod - 1 - 5 mm

5. To adjust the free travel of the clutch pedal and rod:

a) Loosen the lock nut and turn the rod to set the required free travel of the pedal and rod.

b) Tighten the lock nut.

c) Check the pedal height.

d) Connect the heater duct and install the lower trim panel.
