a) Make sure there is no play in the outer joint.
b) Check that the inner joint slides smoothly in the direction of axial pressure.
c) Make sure that there is no noticeable radial clearance in the inner joint.

d) Check the condition of the hinge covers.
2. Using a screwdriver, remove the four hinge boot clamps. Move the boot towards each other.
3. Disconnect the inner joint cage.
a) Apply alignment marks to the inner joint race and drive shaft.
Note: Do not use a sharp object to make alignment marks.

b) Remove the inner joint sleeve from the drive shaft.
4. Remove the triple joint.
a) Using a special tool, remove the retaining ring.
b) Apply timing marks to the drive shaft and T-joint.
Note: Do not use a sharp object to make alignment marks.

c) Using a brass rod and hammer, remove the T-joint from the drive shaft.
d) (ZS-T) Using a special tool, remove the retaining ring.
5 (Right shaft 4WD models) Remove the damper.
a) Remove the damper clamp.
b) Remove the damper.
6. Remove the hinge covers.
7. (4S-FE. 3S-FE (2WD), right shaft ZS-T) Remove the retaining ring.

8. (4S-FE. 3S-FE (2WD), right shaft ZS-T) Remove the dust cover.

9. Remove boot No.2 as shown in the figure.

Models with ABS
Note: Be careful not to damage the speed sensor rotor teeth on the drive shaft.
10. (4S-FE, 3S-FE (2WD), ZC-T) Disassemble the intermediate shaft.
a) Using a special tool and a press, remove the boot.

b) (4S-FE, 3S-FE (2WD)) Using a screwdriver, remove the retaining ring.

c) (4S-FE, 3S-FE (2WD)) Using a press, remove the bearing holder.

d) Using a special tool and a press, remove the boot.

d) Using a special tool, remove the retaining ring.

e) Using a special tool and a press, remove the bearing.
