Removal
Warning: If your radio has an anti-theft code, check that you have the connection codes before disconnecting the battery.
Caution! On models from 1993 onwards, the airbag system is disabled if the battery is disconnected for an extended period of time. If the airbag warning light comes on and remains on after the battery is reconnected, contact a specialist workshop to restore the system to working order.
Attention! Do not perform further actions earlier than 90 seconds later, so that the air cushion capacitor is completely discharged.
1. Remove the ground cable from the battery.

2. Set the front wheels to drive straight ahead. Remove the caps on both sides of the steering wheel and unscrew the two screws securing the airbag to the steering wheel.

3. Remove the airbag unit from the steering wheel and disconnect the electrical connector from the unit.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector for the horn and cruise control system.
5. Mark the position of the steering wheel hub in relation to the steering shaft and unscrew the steering wheel mounting nut.
6. Using a special puller, remove the steering wheel from the shaft.
Installation
1. Check that the front wheels are set to move straight ahead. Turn the spiral wire plate counterclockwise until it stops, then turn it clockwise 3 turns and align the two red indicators.
2. Install the steering wheel on the shaft in accordance with the previously applied marks. Secure the steering wheel with a nut, tightening it to the required torque.
3. Connect the horn and cruise control electrical connectors.
4. Connect the airbag electrical connector.
5. Install the air bag on the steering wheel and secure with bolts.
6. Connect the ground wire to the battery.
