The location of the electronic control unit ECM in the car
Electronic control unit (ECM) receives signals from various sensors that monitor changing engine operating conditions, such as the amount of air entering the engine, air temperature, coolant temperature, engine speed, deceleration or acceleration of the vehicle, and oxygen content in the exhaust gases. These signals are used by the block (ECM) in order to determine the correct duration of fuel injection and set the required ignition timing.
In the event of a malfunction of any sensor, the system enters the backup mode and ensures the operation of the engine, but with less efficiency.
The ECM is located under the instrument panel behind the glove box. To remove the ECM, the glove box and instrument panel trim under the glove box must be removed.
