Warning! The vehicles in question are equipped with an airbag (SRS system). Disconnect the battery when working near airbag components to prevent system deployment and personal injury.
Removing
1. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position and disconnect the battery from the ground. Remove the positive battery terminal and wait at least 2 minutes.
2. Turn the handlebar and set the wheels to the straight ahead position, pry with a screwdriver and remove the screw caps on both sides of the handlebar. Loosen the two screws securing the airbag module (1 - cross-head screw, 2 - screw body). Loosen the screws until the notch on the screw head fits into the hole in the screw body.
3. Remove the security module.
4. Press the connector latch
5. Disconnect the connector.
6. Disconnect the horn and cruise control connectors.
7. Loosen the steering wheel nut and mark the position of the steering wheel relative to the shaft (steering wheel orientation marks are applied on parts of cars by the manufacturer).
8. Press out the steering wheel. Remove the steering wheel with a puller. It is forbidden to remove the steering wheel by hitting the hub.
Installation
1. Make sure the wheels are set to straight ahead. Turn the coiled wire counterclockwise until you feel a tight rotation. Turn the wire clockwise three turns and align the two red pointers. When properly installed, the helix should turn three turns in both directions.
2. Align the rudder and shaft marks, install the rudder and tighten the nut to the specified torque.
3. Connect the cruise control and horn connectors.
4. Connect the security module connector.
5. Install the safety module and tighten the screws to the specified torque.
6. Connect the wires to the battery.
