Steering gear and details of its installation
1. Protective panel of the left wing; 2, 3. Cotter pin; 4. Protective panel of the right wing; 5. Stabilizer bar
Removing
Attention! When dismantling the steering gear, take care not to turn the steering shaft, otherwise the coiled wire of the airbag may be damaged. To do this, turn the ignition key to position "Parking", or wrap the seat belt around the handlebar and insert the handlebar buckle into the lock.
1. Set the wheels to the straight ahead position. Raise the front of the car and place on stands. Apply the parking brake and remove both front wheels. Remove the crankcase guards (if provided).
2. Turn off the union of pressure head and return tubes of the hydraulic booster. Plug the pipes. Remove the bracket from the steering mechanism.
3. Mark the relative orientation of the lower cardan joint of the steering shaft and the steering gear shaft. Loosen the clamp bolt and nut (arrows).
4. Disconnect steering rods.
5. Loosen the stabilizer bar clamps (for access to steering gear bolts).
6. Turn away nuts of fastening of the steering mechanism, raise a bar of the stabilizer and beat out bolts of fastening of the steering mechanism.
7. Separate an intermediate shaft from a shaft of the steering mechanism and get the steering mechanism from the right side of the car.
8. Check the condition of the rubber bushings through which the steering gear is attached. Replace bushings if necessary.
Installation
1. Install the steering gear and attach the cardan joint, aligning the marks made during disassembly.
2. Wrap and tighten bolts and nuts of fastening of the steering mechanism with the set moment.
3. Attach the tie rods.
4. Tighten the universal joint clamp clamp bolt.
5. Connect the hydraulic booster pipes and tighten the fittings.
6. Install the stabilizer bar.
7. Lower the vehicle and bleed the air from the power steering circuit.
