Make sure the seat belt is fastened properly.
The driver's and passenger's front seat belt pretensioners are designed to be activated in response to a severe front impact.
If the air bag sensor detects an impact from a severe frontal collision, the front seat belts are quickly retracted by the pretensioner so that the belts are firmly restrained by front seat occupants.
The seat belt pretensioners work even when there are no passengers in the front seat.
This indicator comes on when the ignition key is in the "ON" or "ACC". It will turn off after about 6 seconds. This means that the front seat belt tensioners are working properly.
This warning light system monitors the front air bag sensors, seat belt tensioner assemblies, warning lights, internal wiring and power supplies.
Main components of the belt tensioner system
1 – the Sensor of forward satellites;
2 - Warning light signal SRS;
3 – The device of retraction of seat belts;
4 - The device of airbag sensors.
The seat belt tensioner is controlled via the air bag sensor. The airbag sensor assembly consists of a safety sensor and an airbag sensor.
If the seat belt retractor is activated, an operation noise may be heard and a small amount of smoke-like gas may be released. This smoke is harmless and does not indicate a fire.
If the seat belt retractor has been activated, the belt tensioner will remain locked.
Warning! Do not modify, remove, strike, or open the seat belt retractors, air bag sensor, or electrical wiring. Doing so may cause the retractors to operate unexpectedly or disable the system, resulting in serious injury.
