The automatic transmission includes a torque converter, 2 planetary gearboxes, hydraulically connected to multi-plate clutches and a band brake. The main gear and differential are mounted in the same housing with the automatic transmission, the design of which is no different from these units in a manual transmission. For sharp acceleration of the car (with full throttle) with automatic downshifting, a so-called kick-down mode is provided. Switching the automatic transmission to this mode is provided by a cable attached to the throttle sector. The transmission fluid is cooled in a separate heat exchanger built into the radiator. Diagnostics and repair of the automatic transmission is performed in a car service center.
