Adjustment
1. Raise and support the front of the vehicle.
2. Remove the protective shields covering the space between the front of the vehicle and the lower cross member.

3. Loosen the shift lever nut on the gearbox (indicated by the arrow).

4. Set the shift lever to the park position (all the way up), and then two clicks down to neutral position (4-cylinder models, A140E gearbox).

5. Set the shift lever to the park position (all the way down), and then two clicks up (6-cylinder models, gearbox A541E).
6. Set the gearshift lever in the passenger compartment to neutral.
7. Tighten the lock nut.
8. Check the operation of the gearshift lever and gearbox.
Replacement

1. Disconnect the cable from the shift lever on the gearbox (the nut is indicated by the arrow).

2. Remove the large cable retainer (indicated by the arrow), located above the lever. Disconnect the cable from the bracket.

3. Remove the cable retainer bolts (indicated by arrows), located on the dividing partition.
4. Remove the center panel.

5. Remove the large cable retainer.

6. Remove the wire retainer, knock out the locking pin (indicated by the arrow) and disconnect the cable from the gear shift lever.
7. Remove the cable.
8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
