Ignition lock and the state of the contacts on the connector at various key positions in the ignition lock
Examination
1. Remove the ground wire from the battery.
2. Remove the upper and lower steering column cover.
3. Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector located on the ignition switch wires.
4. Using an ohmmeter, check the condition of the ignition switch contacts depending on the position of the ignition key (see fig. Ignition lock and the state of the contacts on the connector at various key positions in the ignition lock).
Replacement
Ignition lock parts
1 - contact group of the ignition lock; 2 - key lock solenoid; 3 – ignition lock cylinder; 4 – an element of illumination of the lock of ignition; 5 - ignition lock housing; 6 – a bracket of fastening of the lock of ignition; 7 – the top part of a steering column
1. Remove a branch pipe of system of heating and ventilation located under a steering column.
2. Unscrew the screws securing the back of the ignition switch and remove the ignition switch (see fig. Ignition lock parts).
3. Remove a decorative ring of a frame of the cylinder of the lock of ignition.
4. Set the ignition key in the ignition lock to the ACC position and press the latch through the hole in the ignition lock housing and remove the ignition lock cylinder by the key.
5. Installation is made in sequence, return to removal.
