Check the condition of the pole connections with the terminals, the presence of corrosion, cracks and loose wire fastenings. The presence of a white flaky coating indicates cable corrosion and the need for replacement.
Disconnect the old cables from the battery, trace the cable routing along their length and find the places where they are attached to the starter and to the ground, disconnect the cables from the starter traction relay and the ground.

Remember the route of the cable. Lay the new cable exactly along the route of the one being replaced.
If the cables are to be replaced with new ones, then when purchasing new cables, take the old ones with you. The positive pole cable is red and has a larger cross-section. The negative pole cable is black.

The negative terminal cable is connected to ground and the cylinder block.
Before connecting the cable, clean the threads of the battery cables on the starter traction relay and on the body, remove traces of corrosion.
