Periodically check the cables along the entire length, damage, cracking or burning of the cable insulation, as well as corrosion are not allowed. A loose battery connection can cause engine start failures.
Check the condition of the connections of the poles with the terminals, the presence of corrosion, cracks and loosening of the wires. The presence of a white flaky coating indicates cable corrosion and the need for replacement.
Disconnect the old cables from the battery, track the laying of the cables along their length and find the places where they are attached to the starter and to the ground, disconnect the cables from the starter and ground traction relay.
Remember the route of the cable. Lay the new cable exactly along the route of the one being replaced.
If the cables will be replaced with new ones, when purchasing new cables, take the old ones with you. The positive pole cable is red and has a larger cross section. The negative pole cable is black.
The negative pole cable is connected to ground and cylinder block.
Before connecting the cable, clean the threads of the battery cables on the starter traction relay and on the body, remove any signs of corrosion.
