Ignition coils — replacement [Toyota Camry XV20]

On V6 engines, turn the ignition switch to the Off position, disconnect the connectors from the coils and check the resistance of the coil primary circuits.

Please note: This procedure is not provided for 4-cylinder engines.




Check the resistance of the secondary circuits of the coils. To do this, turn the ignition key to the Off position, mark and disconnect the high-voltage wires from the coils (4-cylinder engine).



On V6 engines, you need to remove the coil. If the resistance differs from the standard, then replace the ignition coil.



Replacement



1. Disconnect the battery from ground.

2. Remove the throttle body (see subsection 6.14.).

3. Mark and disconnect the connector and high voltage wires from the coil.

4. Loosen the bolts (arrows) and remove the coil with the bracket.

5. Loosen the bolts and remove the coil from the bracket.

6. Installation is carried out in reverse order.

6-cylinder engines



2. Mark and disconnect the connector and high voltage wires from the coil.

3. Loosen the bolts and remove the coil from the bracket.

4. Installation is carried out in reverse order.
