Install the 2 side gear thrust washers onto the 2 side gears.
Note. Install the side gear of the same thickness as the one removed.
Install the 2 side gears, 2 differential pinions and 2 side gear thrust washers into the differential case. Rotate the differential pinions to install the 2 differential pinions with washers.
Coat the pivot surfaces of the No. 1 differential pinion axle with gear oil.
Install the No. 1 differential pinion shaft into the differential case so that the pin hole of the pinion pin of the pinion shaft aligns with the hole in the differential case.
Using a thin beard and a hammer, install the diff pinion shaft pin into the hole in the diff case.
Pic. 3.69. Measuring the circumferential backlash of side gears
Press the differential satellite against the wall of the differential box. Using a dial gauge, measure the circumferential backlash of the side gears (pic. 3.69).
Standard circumferential clearance: 0.05 - 0.2 mm.
If the backlash is out of specification, adjust the backlash by selecting the side gear thrust washer.

Pic. 3.70. Heating of the ring gear in a special bath
Using a heater, heat the ring gear to 90–100°C (pic. 3.70).
Clean the contact surfaces of the differential box.
Aligning the marks, quickly install the ring gear on the differential box.
Tightening torque: 106 Nm.
Install the speedometer drive gear (MTM) to the differential box.
