Removing
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the coolant.
3. Remove the upper and lower sections of the intake manifold.
4. Remove exhaust manifolds.
5. Remove the timing belt, camshaft sprockets and upper intermediate pulley.
6. Unscrew the bolts of the rear timing belt cover.
7. Remove the coolant pipe.
8. Remove camshafts.
9. Remove the bolts and disconnect the wiring harnesses from the rear of the heads.
10. Remove the recessed head bolts.
11. Loosen the remaining head bolts in the reverse order of their tightening as shown in the figure. Loosen the bolts a quarter of a turn at a time.
12. Remove heads.
Installation
1. Thoroughly clean and wipe the mating surfaces of the heads and cylinder block with acetone. If the surfaces are scratched or otherwise damaged, they must be treated by a specialist workshop.
2. Using a suitable tap, clean the threads in the cylinder block. Using a suitable die, clean the cylinder head bolts.
3. Install a new gasket and install one of the heads.
4. Lubricate the bolts with clean engine oil.
5. Insert the bolts and tighten them to the correct torque for the first stage in the sequence shown. Do not tighten the recessed bolt.
6. Tighten the bolts an additional 90°and tighten the recessed bolt.
7. Install the other head in the same way.
8. Install the remaining parts.
