Removing
1. Remove the oil pan.
2. Remove the timing belt and lower intermediate pulley.
3. Remove the crankshaft sprocket.
4. Loosen the bolts (arrows) and remove the oil pickup tube.
5. Remove the generator.
6. Remove the air conditioning compressor and move it to the side. Do not disconnect hoses from the compressor.
7. Remove compressor bracket.
8. Remove the power steering pump adjusting plate and move the pump away from the oil pump.
9. Remove the lower intermediate timing belt pulley.
10. Remove the bolts and disconnect the oil pump from the engine.
11. Remove the sealing ring. Remove the pressure reducing valve circlip, remove the retainer spring, spring and valve piston.
12. Loosen the screws and remove the pump cover.
13. Remove the cover and remove the pump gears.
14. Thoroughly clean and wipe with acetone the mating surfaces of the pump housing and cylinder block
Examination
1. Clean all parts with solvent and check for wear and damage.
2. If the pressure reducing valve spring or piston is damaged, all parts of the valve must be replaced.
3. Measure the clearance between driven gear and pump casing.
4. Measure the clearance between the plane of the gears and the plane of the pump casing.
5. Measure the gap between the teeth of the gears - the marks on the surfaces of the gears should be directed outward. If the clearances exceed the maximum allowable limits, the gears must be replaced.
Installation
1. Replace the crankshaft seal. Lubricate the seal with multipurpose grease.
2. Install the gears in the casing. The marks on the gears should point outward.
3. Fill the pump cavity with petroleum jelly and install the pump cover. Tighten the screws.
4. Install the relief valve elements into the pump housing.
5. Apply a layer of sealant to the mating surface of the pump, install the O-ring.
6. Install pump O-ring (arrow), insert and tighten the pump bolts.
7. Install the remaining parts.
