Piston N1 is located in front of the right bank of cylinders on the side of the timing belt.
Installation
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and, if necessary, remove the spark plugs.
2. Remove the outer timing belt cover.
3. Rotate the crankshaft so that the timing marks on the camshaft sprocket point up and line up with the slots in the timing belt cover. Each sprocket has two marks (see table Camshaft marks).
4. To set the piston to TDC, connect a special pressure gauge to the spark plug hole.
5. Align the slot in the crankshaft pulley with the zero mark (arrow) on a plate with synchronization marks. When the marks are aligned, the N1 piston is at TDC at the time of compression.
