Mass Air Flow Sensor





1. Sensor; 2. Connector; 3. Gasket


The sensor is a hot-wire anemometer and is mounted on an air duct.

Examination





1. Disconnect the connector and, with the ignition on, check for voltage from the battery at terminal 4. If there is no voltage, check the circuit from the main injection relay to the sensor.

2. Connect the connector and, with the engine running, check for voltage between terminals 1 and 3 by connecting the voltmeter probes to the back of the terminals. The voltage should be between 1.0 and 1.5 V. When the engine speed decreases or increases, the voltage at these terminals should fluctuate.



3. If the voltage does not match the specified value, check the integrity of the sensor wires.

4. Before replacing the sensor, have it checked at a car service center.

Replacement



1. Turn off the ignition.

2. Disconnect the connector.

3. Remove the air filter.

4. Unscrew 2 bolts and remove the sensor.
