Mounting location of the crankshaft rotation sensor on 4-cylinder engines
1. Wire; 2. connector; 3. Generator; 4. Crankshaft pulley guide; 5. Crankshaft rotation sensor; 6, 7, 9, 14. Collar; 8. Sensor connector; 10. Pulley; 11. Belt cover N1; 12. N2 belt cover; 13, 15. Gasket
Mounting location of the crankshaft rotation sensor on 6-cylinder engines
1. Connector; 2. Sensor
Examination
4-cylinder engines
1. Disconnect the sensor wiring connector near the generator and check the resistance of the sensor (the arrow indicates the location of the sensor).
2. Together with the sensor, the computer module should also be checked, for which the module must be removed and handed over to a car service.
6-cylinder engines
1. Due to the difficult access to the connector, it is recommended to remove the sensor (the arrow indicates the location of the sensor). Check the resistance on the removed sensor.
2. Warming up the engine, or removing the sensor and placing it in boiling water, check the resistance of the sensor at 80°C, which should be 250–300 Ohm.
Replacement
1. Disconnect the battery from the ground.
2. On 4-cylinder engines, remove the belt cover (see fig. Mounting location of the crankshaft rotation sensor on 4-cylinder engines).
3. On 6-cylinder engines, to access the sensor, remove the protective panel of the wheel arch (see fig. Mounting location of the crankshaft rotation sensor on 6-cylinder engines). Disconnect the connector, unscrew the bolt and remove the sensor.
