Airbag malfunction indicator
When the ignition key is turned to position «ON» (Ignition on) The airbag warning light should come on for 7 seconds and then turn off. This means that the system is in good working order.
If the warning light does not behave as described above, the airbag and/or seat belt pretensioners need to be repaired. In the event of a malfunction of the airbag and / or seat belt tensioners, the following options for the operation of the warning device may be observed:
- indicator is constantly on (longer than 7 s);
- signaling device flashes intermittently;
- the warning light does not come on at all.
Until the malfunction is corrected, an additional safety system (SRS) and/or the seat belt pretensioners may not function properly.
Brake warning light/ Parking brake indicator
This warning light/indicator serves both the service brake system and the parking brake.
Parking brake indicator
The indicator lights up when the parking brake is applied.
Brake fluid level warning device
The signaling device warns of a dangerous drop in the level of brake fluid in the reservoir of the main brake cylinder. If the warning light comes on while the vehicle is running with the engine running and the parking brake disengaged, stop the vehicle and perform the following steps.
1. Check the brake fluid level. If necessary, add brake fluid to the reservoir.
Attention! If the brake fluid level drops below the mark «MIN», which is applied on the wall of the reservoir of the main brake cylinder, further operation of the car is prohibited until the brake system is tested.
2. If the brake fluid level is normal, you should contact the service station of an authorized Toyota dealer to check the brake system malfunction indicator.
Note. Briefly turning on the control lamp during operation is not a sign of a problem.
Alarm reminder of the driver's seat belt not fastened
The signaling device reminds that the driver should fasten a seat belt.
When the ignition key is turned to position «ON» The reminder lamp will flash if the driver's seat belt is not fastened. If the driver does not fasten the seat belt, the lamp continues to flash.
Front passenger seat belt reminder
The signaling device reminds that the forward passenger should be fastened by a seat belt.
When the ignition key is turned to position «ON», the reminder indicator flashes when a passenger is in the front seat and the seat belt is not fastened. However, if the front passenger is using a booster cushion for the seat, the warning light may not flash even if the seat belt is not fastened.
If there is luggage or other load on the front passenger seat, depending on the weight and position on the seat, the sensors built into the seat cushion can detect this load, which will cause the reminder to turn on.
Battery Discharge Warning Lamp
This indicator warns of a low battery.
If the indicator turns on while driving, this indicates a problem with the charging system.
However, the engine ignition will continue until the battery is discharged. Turn off the air conditioner, fan, radio, etc. and contact your nearest Toyota dealer or repair shop directly.
Attention! Stop the vehicle if the engine drive belt is damaged or loose.
The indicator lamp of malfunction of systems of the engine
This indicator warns of a malfunction in the engine electrical system, electronic engine control system, or automatic transmission electrical system.
If the indicator comes on while driving, have the vehicle checked/repaired by your Toyota dealer as soon as possible.
If the engine speed does not increase when the accelerator pedal is depressed, there may be a malfunction in the electronic engine control system.
In this case, vibration may occur. However, it is possible to drive at low speed by depressing the accelerator pedal harder and slower. Have the vehicle checked by your Toyota dealer as soon as possible.
Even if you try to correct the malfunction of the electronic engine control system when driving at low speed, the system may not recover until the engine is stopped and the ignition key is turned to the position «ACC» or «LOCK».
Attention! Prolonged operation of the vehicle with the malfunction indicator on and a delay in the inspection and necessary repairs of the engine management system will inevitably lead to a deterioration in the traction and dynamic properties of the car, an increase in fuel consumption and failure of the engine management system. This may void the vehicle warranty. Improper adjustment and normal operation of the engine management system may result in exceeding the allowable exhaust gas toxicity limits established by local or national standards.
Engine oil low pressure warning light
This lamp warns of too low oil pressure in the engine.
If the lamp flashes or stays on while driving, pull off the road to a safe place and stop the engine immediately. Consult your Toyota dealer or qualified service shop for assistance.
The warning light may flash randomly when the engine is idling, or it may come on briefly when stopped with heavy braking. If the lamp goes out with a slight acceleration of the engine, the system is working normally.
The warning light may come on when the oil level is extremely low. This light is not designed to warn you of low oil levels, so check the oil level periodically with a dipstick.
Engine oil low level warning light (2AZ-FE and 1MZ-FE engines)
This lamp warns of too low oil level in the engine. Add oil as soon as possible.
When driving on steep hills, bumpy or winding roads, the vehicle may sway violently and the engine oil fluctuations may cause this lamp to turn on.
Under normal conditions, due to oil consumption, this lamp may turn on earlier than the maintenance schedule interval. This is due to low oil consumption within the maintenance interval and is not indicative of a problem.
Attention! Prolonged operation of the engine with a low engine oil level will damage the engine.
Low fuel warning light
This warning light comes on when the fuel level in the tank is close to zero. On sloping and winding roads, the movement of fuel in the tank may cause the fuel level warning light to come on earlier than usual.
Attention! Fill the tank as soon as possible without waiting for the pointer to drop to the lower mark on the scale. The lower position of the arrow corresponds to the reserve fuel in the tank.
System warning lamp «ABS»
Vehicles without stability control.
This lamp comes on when the ignition key is turned to the «ON». If the anti-lock brake system and auxiliary brake system are working properly, the lamp will turn off after a few seconds. After that, the lamp turns on when a malfunction occurs in one of these systems.
If the indicator lamp turns on «ABS» (and the brake system warning light is off), the anti-lock braking system and the auxiliary brake system do not work, but the brake system works normally.
If the indicator lamp turns on «ABS» (and the brake system warning light is off), the anti-lock braking system does not work, and the wheels may lock up when braking hard or when braking on slippery road surfaces.

Attention! If the anti-lock brake system warning light «ABS» illuminates together with the brake system warning light, stop the vehicle immediately in a safe place and contact your Toyota dealer.
