Setting the desired speed
On vehicles with automatic transmission, the selector lever must be in position before setting the cruise control speed «D».
Pic. 1.135. Stability Lever Speed Command Modes
Accelerate the car to the desired speed, press the lever down, in the direction of the inscription «-SET», and let go. This will set the vehicle to that speed. If this speed is not satisfactory, move the lever up to increase speed or move it down to decrease speed. Each tap changes the set speed by 1.6 km/h. Then you can take your foot off the accelerator pedal (pic. 1.135).
If you need to accelerate the movement, for example when overtaking, depress the accelerator pedal so that the vehicle speed exceeds the set speed. When the pedal is released, the vehicle speed will return to the speed set before acceleration.
Attention! For manual transmissions: When driving with cruise control engaged, do not shift into neutral without depressing the clutch pedal, as this may cause overshoot or overspeed of the engine.
Cancel preset speed
You can cancel the preset speed:
- Pulling the lever in the direction of the inscription «CANCEL», then releasing it;
- Pressing the brake pedal;
- Pressing the clutch pedal (Manual Transmission);
- Pushing a button «ON-OFF».
If the vehicle speed drops below approximately 40 km/h, the preset speed is canceled automatically.
If the vehicle speed drops to 16 km/h below the preset speed, the preset speed is also automatically cancelled.
Higher speed reference
Raise the lever up in the direction of the inscription «+RES», and hold it. After reaching the desired speed, release the lever. While holding the lever in the up position, the vehicle gradually picks up speed.
But a faster way to set the speed is to accelerate the car and then push the lever down in the direction of the inscription «-SET».
Setting a lower speed
Push the lever down in the direction of the inscription «-SET» and hold it. Release the lever when the desired speed is reached. While holding the lever in the lower position, the vehicle speed will gradually decrease.
But a faster way to set the speed is to press the brake pedal and then push the lever down in the direction of the inscription «-SET».
On automatic transmission vehicles, even if the overdrive switch is off and cruise control is on, engine braking will not be applied because cruise control is not off. To reduce vehicle speed, set a lower speed by using the cruise control lever or depressing the brake pedal. When the brake pedal is used, the cruise control is deactivated.
Resume preset speed
If the preset speed is canceled by pressing the control lever or by pressing the brake or clutch pedal, pressing the lever up in the direction of the inscription «+RES» will restore the speed set before canceling.
However, if the vehicle speed drops below approximately 40 km/h, the preset speed will not be automatically restored.
Stability Control Warning
If the indicator lamp «CRUISE» on the instrument panel flashes when using cruise control, press the button «ON-OFF» to turn off the system, then press again to turn on.
If any of the following conditions occur after this, the cruise control system is malfunctioning.
- The indicator lamp does not turn on.
- The indicator lamp flashes again.
- The indicator lamp goes out after switching on.
