Removing
1. Unscrew a bolt and disconnect a brake hose from a support. To prevent leakage of brake fluid, close the hole in the brake hose with a stopper.
2. Replacing the brake caliper is part of the brake pad replacement procedures (See subsection 12.4.).
Caliper repair
1. Using a small screwdriver, remove the dust cover from the caliper piston.
2. Remove the piston from the caliper by using low pressure air supplied to the brake cylinder through the brake hose connection hole. At the same time, instead of brake pads, install a wooden block.
3. Remove the O-ring from the groove in the caliper bore.
4. Wash all parts in methanol or clean brake fluid and wipe dry.
5. Dip the piston and new piston o-ring in the brake fluid and apply a thin layer of brake fluid to the piston hole in the caliper. Install the O-ring into the caliper bore.
6. Install the dust cover on the piston so that the inner diameter of the cover fits into the piston groove. Insert the piston into the caliper and at the same time push the outer edge of the dust cover into the caliper until it locks into place.
7. Lubricate with high temperature grease and install the guide pins into the caliper body.
Installation
Installation is made in sequence, return to removal. Remove air from the brake system.
