Attention! Be sure to replace all the pads on one axle of the car, even if only one pad has reached the wear limit. If the pads are to be reinstalled, they must be marked before removal.
Warning! Brake pads generate brake dust, which contains asbestos, which is harmful to health. Therefore, when cleaning brake pads, do not use compressed air or inhale dust.
1. Raise the front of the car and secure it on stands. Remove the front wheels.
2. Using a G-clamp, press the piston into the caliper cylinder. When the piston is pushed in, the brake fluid is forced out of the brake cylinder into the expansion tank. Therefore, constantly monitor the level of liquid in the tank, and if necessary, pump out a small amount of it from the tank.
3. Clean the brake disc with a special fluid.
4. To remove the caliper, unscrew the bolts shown by the extreme arrows. Unscrew the middle bolt only if the caliper is removed completely.
5. Remove the caliper from the caliper holder.
6. Without disconnecting the brake hose from the caliper, hang the caliper with a soft wire to the front suspension strut.
7. Remove the upper anti-bounce spring.
8. Remove the lower anti-bounce spring (1994 and 1995 models).
9. Remove the outer brake pad gasket.
10. Remove the inner lining of the outer brake pad.
11. Remove the outer brake pad.
12. Remove the outer lining of the inner brake pad.
13. Remove the inner lining of the inner brake pad.
14. Remove the inner brake pad.
15. Remove the 4 brake pad base plates, inspect their condition and reinstall.
16. Remove the brake pad wear sensor from the old brake pad and install on the new brake pad.
17. Install the inner brake pad and the outer and inner brake pad shims.
18. Install the outer brake shoe and inner and outer brake shoe spacer.
19. Install the upper and lower anti-bounce springs.
20. Remove the upper and lower guide pins from the caliper holder and check their condition.
21. Apply a coat of high temperature grease to the guide pins and install them in the caliper holder.
22. Install the caliper in place and secure with bolts.
