Oil pump parts
1 - pulley; 2 – cover of the oil pump; 3 – inner rotor; 4 - sealing gasket of round section; 5 – outer rotor; 6 - oil pump housing; 7 - gasket; 8 – safety valve piston; 9 - spring; 10 - retainer; 11 - thrust ring
Removing
1. Remove the oil pan.
2. Unscrew the nuts and remove the oil receiver pipe.
3. Support the engine with a jack and remove the lower idler pulley, auxiliary crankshaft belt pulley, toothed belt and crankshaft pulley.
4. Unscrew 12 bolts and remove the oil pump from the engine.
5. Remove the two remaining bolts and remove the oil pump cover.
6. Secure the oil pump pulley in a vice with soft jaws and unscrew the pulley mounting nut. Remove the inner oil pump rotor.
7. Clean the mating surfaces of the oil pump and cylinder block from traces of the old gasket.
8. Remove the safety valve circlip and remove the retainer, spring and piston.
Examination
1. Thoroughly clean all parts of the oil pump and check their condition.
2. Check the condition of the safety valve piston and spring. If worn or damaged, the piston and spring must be replaced as a set.
3. Using a feeler blade, check the gap between the teeth of the inner and outer rotor...
4....and also between the outer rotor and the oil pump housing.
Installation
Location of the oil pump cover gasket and outer rotor in the oil pump housing
1. Using a screwdriver, remove the old oil pump rotor O-ring and install a new O-ring.
2. Replace the crankshaft front O-ring.
3. Install the oil pump cover seal and the oil pump outer rotor into the groove of the oil pump housing.
4. Lubricate the shaft and install the inner rotor in the oil pump cover, then install the pulley and secure with the nut, tightening it to the required torque.
5. Install the cover on the oil pump housing and secure with two long bolts.
6. Lubricate the relief valve piston with clean engine oil and install all valve elements into the oil pump housing.
7. Install a new oil pump gasket to the cylinder block.
8. Install the oil pump to the cylinder block and secure with bolts.
9. Further installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal. Fill the engine with oil to the required level.
