Pic. 4.14. Camry car shock absorber
Shock absorbers are used to ensure stability and comfort (pic. 4.14) with low pressure nitrogen (N2) and a control valve with a linear characteristic. In addition, they also have an increased compression piston stroke.
Linear control valve design
Pic. 4.15. Linear control valve
Linear control valve (pic. 4.15) consists of C-valve, slotted valve and flapper valve. These valves have a sandwich construction and form a diaphragm. At low piston speeds, oil flows through the valve cutouts, resulting in linear damping (see fig. 4.16).
Pic. 4.16. Damping force characteristics
The use of a linear control valve allowed for a linear change in the damping force at low piston speeds, so the car feels smoother in terms of steering.
