Lever drive
If, when tightening the handbrake lever to the stop, it travels a path corresponding to 5 to 8 clicks, then the handbrake adjustment is correct. If the stroke is less than 5 clicks, then the brake pads will be partially pressed against the brake disc. If the stroke is more than 8 clicks, then the braking efficiency of the hand brake is insufficient.
1. Remove the center console to access the handbrake cable adjuster.
2. Loosen locknut (top nut) and adjust the position of the adjusting nut so that when the handbrake lever is tightened, its travel is 5-8 clicks.
3. Install the center console.
Pedal drive
1. Slowly depress the parking brake pedal all the way. In this case, the pedal travel should be from 3 to 5 clicks. If the pedal travel is less than 3 clicks, then the parking brake pads do not completely move away from the brake disc. If the travel is more than 6 clicks, the parking brake does not slow down the vehicle.
2. Remove the center console.
3. Loosen the locknut and turn the adjusting nut to adjust the position of the cable so that the pedal stroke is 3-6 clicks. Tighten locknut.
4. Install the center console.
5. Install the brake disc.
