Examination
1. Press the brake pedal several times with the engine off to create the same pressure in the vacuum booster cavities, close to atmospheric. At the same time, by the force applied to the pedal, determine whether the valve body is jammed. Stop the brake pedal in the middle of its travel and start the engine. If the vacuum booster is in good condition, the brake pedal should move forward after starting the engine. If the pedal does not move forward, check the fastening of the hose tip, the condition of the fastening of the flange of the tip in the booster, the condition of the hose and the nipple.
Removal

1. Remove the brake master cylinder.
2. On 1992 and 1993 models, remove the harness clamp from the bottom of the brake booster.
3. Loosen the clamp and move the charcoal canister down.
4. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the brake booster.
5. Inside the vehicle, remove the steering column cover.
6. Disconnect the brake booster pushrod from the top of the brake pedal.
7. Unscrew the 4 mounting nuts and remove the brake booster from the engine compartment.
Installation
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

2. When installing a new brake booster, it is necessary to check and, if necessary, adjust the clearance between the piston of the master brake cylinder and the pushrod of the brake booster.
3. To adjust, screw the adjusting screw into the brake booster pushrod.
4. After installing the master cylinder, check the brake pedal installation height and free play.
