Attention! On models since 1993, the airbag system is disabled if the battery is disconnected for an extended period. If the airbag warning light comes on and stays on after reconnecting the battery, take it to a specialist workshop to restore the system to normal.

1 - starter housing and clutch; 2 - gear; 3 - retaining ring; 4 - bearing; 5 - spring; 6 - spring holder; 7 - starter housing; 8 - overrunning clutch; 9 - spring; 10 - shaft; 11 - traction relay; 12 - spring; 13 - bearing; 14 - gear; 15 - steel ball; 16 - front bearing; 17 - rotor; 18 - rear bearing; 19 - sealing ring; 20 - stator; 21 - sealing ring; 22 - brush holder; 23 - back cover; 24 - dust cover; 25 - sealing ring.
The location of the starter relay in the relay box
1. Remove the ground wire from the battery.
2. Remove the battery from the engine compartment.
3. Disconnect and remove the cruise control actuator from the engine compartment.
4. Disconnect electric wires from a starter and the traction relay.
5. Remove the starter mounting bolts.
6. Carefully remove the starter from the engine.
7. Installation is made in sequence, return to removal.
