Replacement
Cable connecting the leveling bar to the parking brakes of the rear wheels
1. Raise the rear of the car.
2. Release the parking brake and remove the drum (disk).
3. On vehicles with rear drum brakes, remove the pads and disconnect the cable from the pad drive lever. On vehicles equipped with rear disc brakes, remove the parking brake pads and disconnect the pad drive lever.
4. Turn away bolts of a tip of a cable of a parking brake on a board of a brake.
5. Loosen the bolt securing the cable sheath bracket. The cable sheath bracket is located at the front of the rear suspension bar (on some cars, the location of the bracket may vary slightly).
6. Remove the middle section of the exhaust pipe (or drop it), to provide access to the cables.
7. Turn away a bolt of fastening of a collar of a forward tip of a cover of a cable and remove a tip from a collar.
8. Rotate the cable so that the tip of the cable disengages from the equalizer bar and unhook the cable.
9. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
10. Adjust cable.
Cable connecting the intermediate lever to the leveling bar
1. Remove the center section.
2. Release the brake lever and unscrew the locknut and adjusting nuts. Disconnect the cable from the lever.
3. Working under the vehicle, pull the cable back, turn 90°and pull the cable out through the hole in the floor.
4. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Lubricate the rubbing parts of the cable end in the leveling bar. Adjust cable.
Cable connecting the intermediate lever to the pedal (only for avalon models)
1. Remove the front seat.
2. On vehicles with a bench seat, remove the reinforcement section; on vehicles with split seats, remove the center section.
3. Disconnect the cable from the intermediate lever.
4. Remove knee safety buffer (see subsection 11.23.).
5. Disconnect the parking brake signal switch.
6. Unsplint and remove the pedal axle, disconnect the cable from the pedal.
7. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
