Rear suspension bracket
1. Bracket; 2. Brake cylinder; 3. hub; 4. Disk; 5. Seal; 6. Drum; 7. Speed sensor (on vehicles equipped with ABS)
Removing
1. Raise the rear of the car and place on stands. Remove the rear wheel.
2. Remove the brake drum or disc complete with caliper. On vehicles with rear drum brakes, disconnect the hydraulic drive tube at the wheel cylinder. On vehicles with rear disc brakes, do not disconnect the hose from the caliper.
3. On vehicles with rear disc brakes, loosen and remove the flexible hose-to-strut bolt.
4. Remove rear wheel bearing (see subsection 9.1.14.).
5. On vehicles with rear drum brakes, remove the rear brake assembly with brake shield from the suspension bracket without disconnecting the hose. On vehicles with rear disc brakes, remove the brake shield with the parking brake mechanism. Fix the removed knots on a rack spring.
6. On vehicles equipped with ABS, remove the speed sensor.
7. Loosen the bolts securing the bracket to the rack.
8. Unscrew the lever mounting bolt on the bracket, remove the nut and washers, and then finally unscrew the bolt securing the bracket to the rack.
9. While supporting the bracket, unscrew the bolts securing the bracket to the rack that were released earlier and separate the bracket from the rack.
Installation
1. Check the condition of the bushings for cracks and signs of wear. Worn bushings are changed in a car service.
2. Install the hanger bracket to the rack bracket, hand-tighten the bolts.
3. Install the lever mounting bolt on the bracket, washer and tighten the nut.
4. Jack up the suspension bracket to a height suitable for driving conditions.
5. Tighten the suspension bracket-to-strut mounting bolts to the specified torque.
6. Attach the longitudinal bar and tighten the bolt to the specified torque.
7. Tighten the lever bolt and nut.
8. On vehicles with rear drum brakes, attach the hose to the strut.
9. On vehicles equipped with ABS, install a speed sensor.
10. Install the brake shield, install the hub and tighten the bolts.
11. On vehicles with rear drum brakes, connect the tube to the wheel cylinder.
12. Install drum (or disk) brakes.
13. Install the wheel.
14. Bleed the air from the hydraulic (see subsection 10.11.).
15. Lower the vehicle and tighten the wheel nuts.
