The axle joints are covered with covers, the condition of which should be checked periodically. A worn cover must be replaced immediately, for which the axle shaft must be removed.
Attention! Spare parts are also supplied "split" covers, during installation of which removal of the axle shaft is not required, however, after damage to the boot, the axle shaft should be removed to check the condition, clean and lubricate the joints.
Signs of hinge wear are increased noise (clicks) when turning, ringing knocks when shifting into gear after coasting, as well as increased rumble at high speeds.
Removing
Temporary fastening of the hub if it is necessary to roll the car with the axle shafts removed
1. Washer (outer diameter 50 mm); 2. Washer (outer diameter 18–25 mm); 3. Nut M14; 4. Bolt M14
1. Disconnect the battery from the ground.
2. Apply the parking brake.
3. Remove the wheel cover (or hubs), remove the cotter pin and lock washer.
4. Loosen the hub nut.
5. Loosen the wheel nuts, raise the vehicle and remove the wheel.
6. Remove the mudguards, unscrew the hub nut.
7. Disconnect the ball joint from the lever (see subsection 9.1.7.).
8. Loosen the axle shaft in the hub with a sharp blow through the brass spacer. Remove the brake disc if necessary (see subsection 10.6.) and remove the axle shaft with a puller.
9. On parts of cars, remove the plastic casing by unscrewing the bolts.
10. Remove the axle shaft from the hub.
11. At removal of the right semiaxis turn away a lock bolt of an intermediate support and remove a lock ring.
12. Remove the axle shaft from the differential.
13. At removal of the left semiaxis get the internal hinge of a semiaxis from a check point.
14. If the car needs to be rolled with the axle shafts removed, then fix the hub with a bolt and nut.
Installation
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order.
2. Push the inside of the axle shaft sharply so that the differential retaining ring engages the groove on the inner pivot.
3. Tighten the intermediate support retaining bolt to the specified torque.
4. First tighten the wheel nuts, then the hub nut to the specified torque, install the lock washer and cotter pin.
5. Check the oil level in the gearbox.
6. If play or seizing is found in the bearing of the intermediate support, replace the support (replacement is carried out in a car service).
