The eight-position adjustment servo used is based on the previous model's six-position servo, to which a seat cushion adjustment mechanism has been added.
SRS side airbags are installed in the driver's and front passenger's seats. Observe the following precautions.
- Do not lean against the front door while driving as the side airbag inflates at high speed and force. Otherwise, it may result in death or serious injury.
- Do not use seat accessories that cover the airbag deployment area. These accessories may prevent the side airbag system from deploying properly, resulting in death or serious injury.
Seat Adjustment Precautions
- Do not modify or replace seats or front seat upholstery with side airbags. Such modifications could damage the system or cause the side airbags to inflate accidentally, resulting in death or serious injury. Consult your Toyota dealer if you insist on this kind of modification.
- Do not make any adjustments while driving, as the seat may move unexpectedly, resulting in loss of vehicle control.
- When adjusting the seat, be careful not to hit the passenger seat or luggage.
- After adjusting the seat, try moving it forward or backward to make sure it is locked in place.
- After adjusting the seat, tilt your body back to make sure it is locked in place.
- Do not place any objects under the seats. Otherwise, objects may block the seat lock mechanism or unexpectedly push the seat adjustment lever up and the seat may suddenly move, resulting in loss of vehicle control.
- When adjusting the seat, do not place your hands under the seat or near moving parts. Otherwise, you may pinch and injure your hands or fingers.

Grab the center of lever 1 and pull it up. Then move the seat to the desired position with a slight effort of your body and release the lever (pic. 1.93).
Pull lever 2 up or press it. Lean forward and pull lever 3 up. Then lean back to the desired incline and release the lever. Push Knob 4 in the desired direction. Pressing the knob increases or decreases the lumbar support.
Warning! Do not recline the seat back too far. In the event of a front or rear impact, the seat belts provide maximum protection when the driver and passenger in the front seat are seated straight and the seatbacks are nearly vertical. However, if the seatback is reclined too far, the lap belt could slip over the hips, placing a restraining force on the stomach and putting pressure on the neck if the belt is slung over the shoulder. In the event of a frontal impact, the risk of injury or death increases as the backrest is leaned back.
