Pic. 2.82. Scheme for checking the warping of the surfaces of the cylinder head
Using a ruler and feeler gauge, check for warping of the cylinder head surfaces mating with the cylinder block surface and with the surfaces of the intake and exhaust manifolds (pic. 2.82).
Maximum Warp Tolerance:
- side of the cylinder block - 0.05 mm;
- intake manifold side - 0.08 mm;
- exhaust manifold side - 0.08 mm.
If the value of the warping plane exceeds the maximum allowable, replace the cylinder head. Using dye, check for cracks in the combustion chambers, inlet and outlet ports, and at the gas interface. If there are cracks, replace the cylinder head.
