Pic. 2.90. Checking the tappet diameter with a micrometer
Measure the diameter of the plunger with a micrometer (pic. 2.90).
The pusher diameter is 30.966–30.976 mm.
Calculate by subtracting the tappet diameter from the tappet bore in the head housing and determine the clearance.
The standard clearance is 0.033–0.059 mm.
Limit clearance - 0.079 mm.
If the gap exceeds the maximum allowable, replace the pusher. If necessary, replace the cylinder head.
Pic. 2.91. Measuring the tappet bore diameter with a bore gauge
Check the tappets and tappet bores in the cylinder head housing. Using an inside gauge, measure the diameters of the tappet bores in the cylinder head (pic. 2.91).
Boring diameter - 31.000–31.025 mm.
Warping limit - 0.7 mm.
Check for warpage on the exhaust manifold contact surface. If the amount of warpage exceeds the maximum allowable, replace the manifold.
