Pic. 2.330. Cylinder diameter measurement
Indicator-caliper measure the diameter of the cylinder at three levels A, B and C in the transverse 1 and longitudinal 2 directions, as shown in Figure 2.330.
- The standard diameter is 87.500–87.512 mm.
- The maximum diameter is 87.520 mm.
If the diameter is greater than the maximum allowable, bore all cylinders. Replace the cylinder block if necessary.
Remove the comb at the top of the cylinder block with a reamer if the wear is less than 0.2 mm.
Check the 12-point main bearing cap bolts. Measure the diameter of the thin part of the bolts with a caliper.
- The standard diameter is 7.5–7.6 mm.
- The minimum diameter is 7.2 mm.
If the diameter is less than the minimum value, replace the bolt.
