Evenly loosen and unscrew the eight coupling bolts of the main bearing caps in several passes, as shown in Figure 2.325

Then weaken and turn away sixteen bolts of fastening of covers of radical bearings in several passes, as is shown in drawing 2.326.

Using a screwdriver, separate and remove the covers together with the lower bushings and lower thrust half rings (the latter are installed only in the main bearing area No. 2) (fig.2.327).

Remove the main bearing cap by rocking it slowly from side to side to avoid damaging the mating surfaces of the bearing cap and cylinder block (pic. 2.328).
Note. Keep the main bearing caps together with the lower bearings so that they are not mixed up during installation.
Raise the crankshaft.
Clean each main journal and bearings. Check the surface of each main journal and bearings for pitting and scratches. If the neck or insert is damaged, replace the inserts. Regrind or replace crankshaft if necessary.
