Pic. 2.333. Measuring the skirt diameter
Using a micrometer, measure the piston skirt diameter at a distance of 23.2 mm (pic. 2.333).
The nominal diameter of the piston is 87.406–87.416 mm.
Measure the cylinder diameters in the direction of the engine axis. Find the difference between the piston and cylinder diameters.
Clearance between cylinder and piston:
- standard - 0.084–0.106 mm;
- maximum - 0.130 mm.
If clearance is greater than maximum, replace all pistons and bore all cylinders. Replace the cylinder block if necessary.
Note. The pistons for the front and rear row of cylinders are different from each other. Pistons with markings are installed in the back row «R», in the front - with marking «L».
