Removal and installation
1. Remove the seat cushion and backrest.
2. Disconnect the sensor connector.
3. Remove the sensor.
a) Loosen the wiring harness mounting bolts.
- Tightening torque during installation - 5.5 Nm

b) Unscrew the sensor mounting bolt.
Tightening torque during installation:
- 2WD models - 8.0 Nm
- 4WD models - 19.5 Nm
Examination
1. Check the rear wheel speed sensor.
a) Remove the seat cushion and back.
b) Disconnect the speed sensor connector.
The original can be found on this resource ToyotaMAN

c) Measure the resistance between the terminals.
Nominal resistance:
- 2WD models - 0.8-2.05 kOhm
- 4WD models - 0.65-1.8 kOhm

If the value does not correspond to the nominal value, replace the sensor.
d) Check for conductivity between each of the terminals and the sensor body. If there is conductivity, replace the sensor.
d) Connect the sensor connector.
e) Install the seat back and cushion.
2. Check that the sensor is installed correctly and that the tightening torque of the sensor mounting bolt corresponds to the permissible value.
- Tightening torque - 7.8 Nm

3. Visually inspect the teeth of the speed sensor rotor.
a) Remove the hub assembly.
b) Check the sensor rotor teeth for scratches, cracks, deformation or missing teeth.
c) Install the hub assembly.
Checking the rear wheel speed sensor
1. Connect the oscilloscope to the speed sensor connector.
2. While driving at a speed of 20 km/h, check the oscillogram.
3. Make sure "C" = 0.8V or more. If not, replace the sensor.

4. Check that "B" is 40% or more of "A". If not, replace the rear axle hub.
