Clutch parts
1. Flywheel; 2. Friction disc; 3. Clutch cover; 4. Bolt; 5. Release bearing; 6. Fork; 7. Spherical fork support; 8. Case
Friction disc wear check points
1. Overlays; 2. Damper springs; 3. hub; 4. Rivets
Spring leaf wear
1. Normal wear of petals; 2. Increased wear; 3. Increased wear of the petals; 4. Broken or deformed spring petals
Removing
1. When describing the procedures, it is assumed that the work is carried out without removing the engine.
2. Remove the slave cylinder, set aside and secure.
3. Jack up the engine and remove the transmission. If the engine is supported from below, then keep in mind that the oil receiver is located near the sump and if the sump is deformed, oil access to the engine may be blocked.
4. Fix the clutch by inserting the mandrel.
5. Find match marks (marked with the letters X or O), if missing, mark the position of the clutch on the flywheel.
6. Loosen the 6 bolts gradually and evenly in a diagonal sequence until the action of the springs is weakened, then unscrew the bolts and remove the clutch cover and friction disc.
Examination
1. As a rule, only the friction disc needs to be replaced. However, the condition of all parts should be inspected.
2. Check the condition of the flywheel. It is recommended to remove the flywheel and grind regardless of the surface condition.
3. Check the condition of the surface of the friction linings, measure the distance to the heads of the disc rivets, which should be at least 1.5 mm. Check the condition of the springs, loose rivets, and other signs of damage (see fig. Friction disc wear check points). It is recommended to replace the drive regardless of its condition.
4. Together with the friction disc, the release bearing also usually changes.
5. Check the surface condition of the pressure plate, diaphragm spring and spring petals (see fig. Spring leaf wear). Minor defects in the disc can be sanded with sandpaper; in case of significant defects, replace the clutch.
Installation
1. Thoroughly clean the flywheel and clutch.
2. Install the clutch, aligning the marks, and tighten the bolts by hand. Label "flywheel side" (to flywheel) should face the flywheel.
3. Center the disc with a mandrel that should fit into the flywheel recess, gradually and evenly, in a cross pattern, tighten the clutch bolts.
4. Lubricate the release bearing groove and all friction surfaces with refractory grease. Install the release bearing.
5. Install transmission and all removed parts.
