Checking the engine oil level
Engine oil dipstick location
Engine oil dipstick
Location of the oil filler cap
1. Park the vehicle on a level, level ground.
2. Check the engine oil level 15 minutes after turning off the engine.
3. Remove the dipstick to measure the engine oil level.
4. Using a clean rag, wipe the dipstick free of oil residue. Insert the dipstick into the engine and remove it again.
5. Determine the oil level in the engine, which should be between the marks F and L. The amount of oil between the marks is 1 liter.
6. Remove the oil filler cap and fill the required amount of oil into the engine.
7. If dirt or metal particles are found on the dipstick when checking the oil level, the engine oil must be changed immediately.
Coolant level
Attention! Do not remove the expansion tank cap on a hot engine, as hot coolant fumes can cause burns.
Attention! Avoid getting coolant on painted body surfaces and clothing. Otherwise, wash the area where the coolant has entered with plenty of water.
Expansion tank of the engine cooling system
The coolant level in the expansion tank varies with engine temperature. On a cold engine, the coolant level should be just above the mark on the expansion tank.
Wait until the engine has cooled down and slowly unscrew the cap from the expansion tank.
If necessary, fill the mixture of water and antifreeze into the expansion tank up to the mark. Screw the plug onto the expansion tank.
Windshield washer fluid
The plastic windshield washer fluid reservoir is located in the front right corner of the engine compartment.
Battery check
Attention! If your radio has an anti-theft code, check that you have the pairing codes before disconnecting the battery.
Attention! On models since 1993, the airbag system is disabled if the battery is disconnected for an extended period. If the airbag warning light comes on and stays on after reconnecting the battery, take it to a specialist workshop to restore the system to normal.
The electrolyte level in the battery must be between the two marks on the top of the battery.
In batteries with a built-in indicator of the state of charge, the state of the battery is determined by the color of the indicator. The green indicator light indicates that the battery is fully charged. The black color of the indicator indicates the need to charge the battery. The blue color of the indicator indicates a low level of electrolyte in the battery.
Brake fluid level
Warning! Brake fluid is poisonous, so be careful not to get it on your body or on your vehicle's paintwork.
The location of the transparent tank with brake fluid in the engine compartment
Check that the brake fluid level in the transparent reservoir is between the min and max marks.
If it is necessary to add brake fluid, first wipe the area around the filler cap and unscrew the cap from the brake fluid reservoir. Add brake fluid up to the max mark on the reservoir.
Tire check
Checking the reliability of screwing the spool
Tires are the only parts of the car that are constantly in contact with the road and even the total contact surface of all tires is small. It is therefore necessary to regularly carry out a thorough tire check, since both your own safety and the safety of other road users depends to a large extent on the condition of the tires.
1. Check the tread and sidewalls of the tire for breaks, cuts and blisters.
2. Check the tire tread height.
3. Tire leaks can be identified with soap suds.
4. Check the pressure only when the tires are cold.
