Pic. 2.109. Measuring the skirt diameter
With a micrometer, measure the diameter of the piston skirt at the distance indicated in Figure 2.109 from the surface of the piston bottom from the end of the skirt (below the level of the piston ring grooves).
Standard diameter:
- 1AZ-FE - 85.927–85.937 mm;
- 2AZ-FE - 88.439–88.449 mm.
Measure the cylinder diameters in the direction of the engine axis.
Find the difference between the measurements of the piston diameter and the cylinder diameter.
Standard Clearance:
- 1AZ-FE - 0.063–0.086 mm;
- 2AZ-FE (type 1) - 0.051–0.074 mm;
- 2AZ-FE (type 2) - 0.048–0.058 mm.
Limit clearance - 0.100 mm.
If clearance is greater than maximum, replace all four pistons. Replace the cylinder block if necessary.
