Examination
The time relay is located next to the coolant temperature sensor.
1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the cold start injector timing relay and use an ohmmeter to check the resistance between the corresponding relay contacts.
When the engine temperature is below 15°C, the resistance of the time relay winding should be 25–45 Ohm.
When the engine temperature is more than 30°C, the resistance of the time relay winding should be within 65–85 Ohm.
2. Check resistance between FTA terminal and ground. It should be 25-85 ohms.
Replacement
1. Drain the coolant from the radiator.
2. Using an extension wrench, unscrew the timing relay from the engine.
3. Installation is made in sequence, return to removal.
