The brakes are equipped with an automatic pad clearance adjustment system (with disc or drum). In drum brakes, the automatic adjustment system is activated when the parking brake is applied.
Hydraulic brake
Hydraulic double-circuit brake drive (separate for front and rear wheels). The brake supply reservoir is divided into two sections, one for each circuit. The composition of the hydraulic drive additionally includes a double metering valve that ensures the alignment of the braking of the front and rear wheels (located on the bulkhead of the engine compartment).
Vacuum booster
It is mounted on the bulkhead of the engine compartment and provides an increase in the force on the brake pedal due to the vacuum created in the engine intake manifold.
Parking brake
The parking brake has a cable drive to the rear wheels, is activated by a lever (on Camry and Camry Solara models), or pedal (Avalon models). The lever is located on the central floor panel of the front lining of the cabin, the pedal is mounted on the left mudguard of the body in the cabin.
Brake Care
After carrying out repairs involving disassembly of the brakes, check their operation while driving on a smooth, level road. When braking, the car should not go to the side, braking should be smooth. The brakes are tested by smooth and hard braking at different speeds, however, avoiding complete blocking of the wheels in order to prevent tire slippage on the road surface. The braking performance of the vehicles in question is also affected by the condition of the tires, vehicle loading and correct wheel alignment.
