Examination
1. Loosen wheel nuts, raise vehicle and place on stands. Remove the wheels and screw the wheel nuts back in place to secure the disc to the hub (washers can be put on to ensure the application of force to the disk). Release the parking brake (when working on the rear brake).
2. Remove the caliper (see subsection 10.5.), set aside and secure. Loosen the bolts and remove the caliper bracket.
3. Check the condition of the disk on both sides. When traces of deep mining are found (depth over 1.0 mm), remove the disc and grind. If pulsations were noted during braking, then the cause may be increased beating of the disc. In the figure - a disc with traces of worn out linings to rivets. Replace a disk with such defects.
4. Check for runout by setting a dial indicator 13 mm from the edge of the disc. If the beat on the indicator exceeds the norm, then remove the disc and grind it in a car service.
Attention! It is recommended to periodically remove and grind the disc, regardless of the indicator readings. At least this can be done by hand with fine sandpaper to reduce roughness.
5. After grinding, the thickness of the disc should not be less than the maximum allowable, which is cast on the disc. The minimum thickness is indicated on the inside of the disc, next to the point of attachment to the hub.
6. Measure the disc thickness in several places.
Removing
1. Loosen the wheel bolts that temporarily attached the disc and remove the disc.
2. If the rear brake disc cannot be removed, then unscrew the plug, insert a screwdriver into the hole (the hole should be at the bottom) and turning the adjuster, move the parking brake pads away from the disc drum from the inside.
3. Turn the adjuster to move the parking brake pads away from the disc drum (front view).
Installation
1. Install the rear disc on the studs.
2. Install the caliper bracket and tighten all fasteners to the specified torque.
3. Install the caliper and tighten the mounting bolts. If the brake hose was not disconnected, then it is not necessary to bleed the brakes.
4. Install the wheel, finally tighten the nuts after lowering the vehicle. After assembly, press the brake pedal several times. Check the operation of the brakes.
