Note:
- - The type of automatic transmission is stamped on an aluminum plate located in the engine compartment, in the line marked TRANS / AXLE.
- - Operation of the automatic transmission, replacement of fluids in the automatic transmission, final drive and transfer case, see chapter "Manual".
Planetary gearbox
The planetary gearbox contains three planetary gear sets, three lockup clutches, four brakes and three freewheels.
Power from the engine through the torque converter is transmitted to the input shaft of the planetary gearbox.
Gear shifting is accomplished by activating a specific combination of two controls that changes the speed of the output shaft.
Elements of the planetary gearbox
1. Lock-up clutch for step-up planetary gear set (WITH0) - connects the carrier and the sun wheel of the boost row.
2. High row brake (IN0) - stops the sun wheel of the boost row.
3. Clutch No. 1 of the freewheel of the increasing row (F1) - when the brake of the second gear is on, it prohibits counterclockwise rotation of the sun gears of the front and rear planetary gears.
4. Forward clutch (WITH1) - connects the input shaft and the epicycle of the front planetary gear set
5. Second gear brake (IN2) - stops the outer ring of the freewheel No. 1, prohibiting the rotation of the sun gears of the front and rear planetary gears counterclockwise.
6. Brake 1st gear and reverse (IN3) - stops the carrier of the rear planetary gear set.
7. Freewheel No. 2 (F2) - prohibits the rotation of the carrier of the rear planetary gear set counterclockwise.
8. Direct clutch (WITH2) - connects the input shaft and the sun gears of the front and rear planetary gear sets.
9. Brake providing engine braking mode in second gear (IN1) - stops the rotation of the sun gears of the front and rear planetary gear sets.
10. Overdrive clutch (F0) - when starting the engine, it connects the sun gear and the carrier of the increasing planetary gear set.
Hydraulic control system
The control system includes: oil pump, valve block, solenoid valves, hydraulic accumulators, blocking clutches and brakes. The main pressure in the system is created by the pump, it is regulated by the control system depending on the load and vehicle speed, and ensures the operation of the torque converter, lock-up clutches and brakes.
Shift valves control fluid flow to the torque converter and planetary gearbox.
The valve block has one solenoid valve that controls the boost planetary gear set.
