Checking and adjusting the automatic transmission control rod
1. When switching the selector from the "N" position to other positions, check that the selector moves smoothly and the indicator correctly indicates the selected position. If the indicator incorrectly shows the selected position, make adjustments.
2. Loosen the nut on the automatic transmission control rod.
3. Move the start inhibit switch lever to the stop as shown in the figure.

4. Return the starter inhibit switch lever two notches to the "N" position.
5. Set the selector to the "N" position.
6. While pressing the lever towards the "R" position, tighten the control rod nut.
- Tightening torque - 13 Nm
7. Start the engine and make sure that the car moves forward in selector positions from "N" to "D" and backward in position "R".

Checking and adjusting the throttle valve control cable
1. Press the accelerator pedal all the way down and make sure the throttle valve is fully open.
2. With the accelerator pedal fully depressed, loosen the adjusting nuts.

2 - flexible cover,
3 - adjusting nuts.
3. Adjust the cable so that the distance between the boot and the stopper on the cable is within the nominal range. The nominal distance, with the throttle valve fully closed, is 0 - 1 mm.
4. Tighten the adjusting nuts and recheck.
Checking and adjusting the engine start inhibit switch
1. Make sure that the engine can only be started when the selector lever is in position "N" or "P".
2. If the engine can be started in other positions, adjust the engine start inhibit switch.
a) Loosen the neutral start switch bolts and set the selector to the "N" position.
b) Align the groove and the neutral position base line.

c) While holding the parts in this position, tighten the bolts.
- Tightening torque - 5.4 Nm
Checking the idle speed (n range)
Check the idle speed.
Idle speed:
- ZS-T — 750 - 850 rpm
- 3S-FE, 4S-FE - 700 - 750 rpm
Note: Perform the check with the air conditioner off and the selector in the "N" position.
