Removal the oil pump



1. Drain the oil from the engine.

2. Remove the timing belt. See subsection "Removal the timing belt".

Note: Remove the camshaft sprockets only if necessary.


3. Remove the toothed pulley of the oil pump and crankshaft.

4. Remove the oil dipstick and guide.

5. Remove the oil pan, oil pickup, oil separator and gasket (see section "Cylinder block").

6. Remove the oil pump by unscrewing the bolts.

Disassembling the oil pump



1. Remove the pressure reducing valve by removing the retaining ring, spring seat and spring.

2. Remove the drive and driven rotors by unscrewing the screws and removing the housing cover and gasket.

Checking the oil pump



1. Check the pressure reducing valve.

After lubricating the valve surface with fresh engine oil, install it into the mounting hole and make sure that the valve drops under its own weight.

If this does not happen, replace the valve or the entire oil pump.

2. Using a feeler gauge, measure the radial clearance between the driven rotor and the pump casing.

Nominal clearance:
  • 3C-T — 0.10 -0.17 mm
  • 3S-FE, 4S-FE - 0.10-0.26 mm

Maximum allowable - 0.20 mm



3. Using a feeler gauge, measure the radial clearance between the lugs of the driving and driven rotors.



Nominal:
  • 3C-T — 0.050 - 0.150 mm
  • 3S-FE, 4S-FE - 0.040 - 0.160 mm

Maximum allowable - 0.20 mm



4. (3C-T) Using a dial indicator, measure the rotor protrusion above the mating surface:

Protrusion - 7.00 - 7.06 mm

If either gap is greater than the maximum, replace both rotors. If necessary, replace the entire pump.

Replacing the front crankshaft oil seal



For replacement of the front oil seal, see the chapter "General repair procedures" in the section "Cylinder Block".

Assembling the oil pump





Components for disassembling and assembling the oil pump (3C-T).
1 - front crankshaft oil seal,
2 - oil pump pulley,
3 - oil pump oil seal,
4 - leading rotor,
5 - driven rotor,
6 - oil pump housing,
7 - pressure reducing valve,
8 - spring,
9 - gasket,
10 - cork.




Oil pump (3S-FE, 4S-FE).
1 - front crankshaft oil seal,
2 - driven rotor,
3 - leading rotor,
4 - pump body,
5 - pump cover,
6 - pressure reducing valve,
7 - pressure reducing valve spring,
8 - spring seat,
9 - retaining ring,
10 - oil pump oil seal,
11 - gasket.


1. Install the driving and driven rotors.



a) Position the driving and driven rotors with the marks facing the housing cover as shown in the figure.



b) (3S-FE, 4S-FE) Install the gasket.

c) Install the pump housing cover and secure it with screws, tightening them.
  • Tightening torque - 10 Nm

2. Install the pressure reducing valve in the reverse order of its removal.

Installing an oil pump



1. Install the pump.

2. Install the oil pan, oil pickup, oil calming device and gasket.

3. Install the oil pump toothed pulley.

4. Install the oil dipstick and guide.

5. Install the timing belt. See subsection "Installing the timing belt".

6. Fill the system with oil.

7. Start the engine and check for oil leaks.

8. Check the oil level.
