Note:
- The test should be carried out at normal operating temperature of the working fluid (50-80°C)
- Perform three tests and then determine the average delay time for first gear engagement.
- There must be an interval of at least one minute between checks.
1. Measuring the gear engagement time:
a) Apply the parking brake.
b) Start the engine and check the idle speed with the selector in the "N" position (with the air conditioner off).
c) Move the selector from position "N" to position "D" and measure the time until you feel the jolt of gear engagement.
[The text is quoted from the source website www.TOYOTAMAN.ru]
- The delay time is no more than 1.2 sec.
d) Move the selector from the "N" position to the "R" position and measure the time until you feel the jolt of the gear engagement.
- The delay time is no more than 1.5 sec.
2. Analysis of the inspection results.
a) If the switching time is "N->D" is greater than required:
- too low pressure in the main line,
- wear of the forward clutch,
- the overdrive clutch is faulty.
b) If the switching time is "N->R" is greater than required:
- too low pressure in the main line,
- wear of the reverse clutch,
- wear of the first gear and reverse gear brakes,
- the freewheel clutch of the step-up planetary gear set is faulty.
